Constable & Robinson to launch new commercial fiction list, CanvasThursday 8th Dec 2011
Constable & Robinson are proud to announce the launch of a new commercial fiction list, Canvas. The announcement follows the appointment of Victoria Hughes-Williams in May as Commissioning Editor. Fiction Publisher James Gurbutt said 'Victoria's role and the launch of Canvas form part of a long-term objective to grow the business and to diversify our fiction offerings. The new list will be predominately women's fiction – focusing on the mass market – an area in which, until now, we have not had a presence.'
Canvas complements the existing fiction lists: the Robinson crime list led by Krystyna Green and the literary imprint Corsair started by Gurbutt in 2009.
The Canvas list will initially publish 12 new titles a year, in print and digital formats. It will launch in May 2012 with The Summer of Secrets by Alison Lucy, followed by the paperback outing of French Lessons by Ellen Sussman and Sworn Secret from debut author Amanda Jennings. Hughes-Williams has also acquired the 666 Park Avenue series, where Upper East Side witches rule New York high society, and has signed up Barbara Delinsky in a two-book deal. Katie O'Rourke, whose novels explore dark familial secrets, also joins the list – her three complete novels will publish in quick succession in 2012. Lost and Found, a heart-rending, darkly humorous novel by debut author Tom Winter will publish in 2013.
