MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS
We are happy to read manuscripts from potential new authors. The following guidelines aim to help you with your manuscript submission. All submissions should be marked for the attention of the Publisher's Reader and sent to us by post only at:
Constable & Robinson Ltd
55-56 Russell Square
London WC1B 4HP
HOW TO MAKE AN AUTHOR'S SUBMISSION
- We currently welcome fiction and non-fiction book ideas and synopses.
- We require a one-page synopsis and one sample chapter (no typescripts), plus a covering letter outlining previous experience, expertise in the subject, etc. The letter should state precisely the readership at which you are aiming (it may help to cite a similar title in the field already successfully published), and it should also explain why you believe there is a gap in the market/the merits of your proposal versus titles already in print.
- Ideally, all material should be typed in double spacing on one side of the paper only, and chapter pages should be numbered.
- We do not accept submissions by fax or e-mail.
- We can only reply or return sample material if a stamped, addressed envelope or an international postage voucher is included.
Owing to pressure of submissions, we do not acknowledge receipt or give editorial guidance on the material we reject or general advice on how to be an author. A writers' group/writing course may help with the latter.
We aim to respond within one month of receipt, although if we're especially busy this is not always possible. If you have any queries, please contact us at reader@constablerobinson.com
